In this consolidated suit, the plaintiff, Emile Hawkins, filed suit against various defendants asserting civil rights violations which allegedly arose during his detention by law enforcement officials. The trial court granted the defendants' Motion for Dismissal after the plaintiff, who was representing himself, failed to appear for trial. He now appeals, as do the defendants.
