Plaintiffs brought suit,1 alleging that defendant, Avis Rent-A-Car System, Inc., was liable for injuries sustained by Ronald Bieszck in an automobile accident. The claim against Avis was predicated on the owner's liability statute, 1988 PA 125, M.C.L. § 257.401; M.S.A. § 9.2101.
