David C. Van Every (plaintiff) appeals an order awarding Kelly McGuire's (defendant) counsel $55,688.35 in attorney's fees, $3,163.50 to the guardian ad litem, and $390.00 for expert witness fees.

The undisputed facts are that plaintiff and defendant were married in 1988 and divorced in 1992. One child was born to the marriage in 1989. A dispute arose with regard to the custody of the child and on 27 July 1994 the trial court appointed a guardian...
