Defendant, Dennis Smith, was charged by bill of information with bigamy in violation of La.R.S. 14:76. He pled not guilty and, thereafter, filed an "Application for Hearing to Determine Defendant's Mental Condition." After the trial court ruled that defendant was competent to stand trial, a jury found him guilty as charged.
