Plaintiff Sean Cosgriff, who was a police officer at the time, was in pursuit of individuals involved in the sale of narcotics when he tripped and fell on a sidewalk abutting a building at 7-13 Washington Square North sustaining serious injuries. Cosgriff fell when his left foot came into contact with a metal plate in the sidewalk.
