A jury found the defendant, Ronald Qualls, guilty of two indictments charging murder in the first degree, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, assault by means of a dangerous weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm. The assault by means of a dangerous weapon charge was placed on file with the defendant's consent.
