The roots of this dispute lie in the 1960's when defendant Lenox Hill Hospital rented 15 apartments for the housing of some of its nurse/employees in the building located at 429 East 79th Street in Manhattan. The apartments became subject to the Rent Stabilization Law (RSL; Administrative Code of City of NY, tit 26, ch 4) in 1969, and plaintiffs purchased the building in 1976. Both previous owners...
