The defendant, Juan Cartagena, appeals from the judgment, rendered after ajury trial, convicting him of manslaughter in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-55 (a) (1).1 On appeal, the defendant claims that the trial court (1) improperly instructed the jury on self-defense, (2) improperly instructed the jury on manslaughter in the first degree as a lesser included offense of murder...
