Plaintiffs are former employees of defendant Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corporation ("Pratt & Whitney"), who were laid off when their work was transferred to another Pratt & Whitney plant. They allege that their manager induced them to forgo a limited transfer opportunity by falsely assuring them that another opportunity would be afforded at some later time prior to layoff.
