We have granted relator's application for writ of certiorari to consider the validity of the trial court's judgment granting defendant's exception of venue. In deciding this writ application we find that:

(1) A promissory note is not a contract within the meaning of the venue article LSA-C.C.P. art. 76.1. (2) The phrase "work or service" found in LSAC.C.P. art. 76.1 was not intended to apply to payment on a promissory note. ...
