BRYNER, Chief Judge.

Marcus G. Arnett was tried before a jury for sexually abusing his step-daughter, M.A. Arnett absconded in mid-trial. Trial continued in his absence, and the jury convicted him of three counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor in violation of former AS 11.41.434(a)(2)(B). Arnett was later arrested as a fugitive in Kentucky and extradited to Alaska; he pled no contest to an additional charge of wilful failure to appear...
