The defendants, Jerry Stoner and Connie Stoner, appeal from the trial court's denial of their motion for a judgment notwithstanding the verdict (JNOV) or for a new trial. We reverse and remand.

In 1989, Jerry Stoner built a house in Madison County in which he and his wife Connie lived for approximately two and one-half years. In January 1992, the Stoners agreed to sell their house to the plaintiffs, Steve Anderson and his wife...
