Defendant, Glenn Borchers, was charged with armed robbery, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:64, by bill of information filed on December 12, 1988, to which he pled not guilty on January 11, 1989.

Subsequently, defendant's original counsel was fired by defendant's family. On April 11, 1989, new counsel orally enrolled on defendant's behalf and advised the trial court of defendant's desire to plead guilty in connection with a plea bargain agreement...
