LOGAN, Circuit Judge.
Ronald Eugene Staley died while installing new tires on a road grader when a multipiece tire and rim assembly explosively separated. Goodyear manufactured the rim of the tire and the side ring; Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc. (Firestone) manufactured the lock ring. Staley worked for Brad Ragan, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Goodyear; both it and Goodyear were Staley's workers' compensation employers and thus immune from damages
