Appellants Valmet Paper Machinery, Inc. and Valmet, Inc. (collectively "Valmet") sued Beloit Corporation for infringement of Valmet's patent on a drying machine used in making paper. Beloit counterclaimed for infringement of two patents it holds on drying-machine inventions.
