On May 2, 1995, the appellant, Donald Lloyd Clark, was arrested for some burglaries and thefts committed in Dallas County. At the time of his arrest, Clark expressed relief to law enforcement officers at being caught because he was suffering from an addiction to crystal methamphetamine.
