A jury found appellant, Roland Reed Bohnet II, guilty of capital murder. See Tex. Penal Code Ann. § 19.03(a)(8) (West 1994). The State having elected not to seek the death penalty, the trial court assessed punishment at life imprisonment. See Tex. Penal Code Ann. § 12.31(a) (West 1994); Tex. Code Crim. Proc.
