Michael Crawford was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1). At trial he had offered to stipulate to two prior felonies, but the government declined to accept the stipulation and the district court, consistent with the law in this circuit at the time, permitted evidence to be introduced about the crimes. Crawford claims this was reversible error under Old Chief v. United States,
