Leon Perry (Perry) was indicted by a Hennepin County grand jury for, and was convicted by a Hennepin County jury of, first-degree murder under Minn.Stat. § 609.185, subd. 1 (1996), as a result of the shooting death of Brian Thomas (Thomas) in the parking lot of the Riverview Supper Club in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on July 8, 1995.
