Patrick Church was driving an automobile in North Carolina on November 26, 1991 which was involved in an accident with a vehicle driven by Tami Marie Rose, a North Carolina resident. Rose's vehicle was insured by the relator, Hanover Insurance Company (Hanover). Church sued Rose in North Carolina.
