In the late evening hours of August 16, 1995, Carl Lofton, 60 years of age and in poor physical health, was shot five times with a .38 caliber revolver as he was lying in his own bed in his home on Old Highway 1 North in Natchitoches, Louisiana. The victim was shot in the neck, the left upper arm, the chest, the abdomen, and the back just above his hip. The victim's death was not immediate; the victim died while being transported to the Natchitoches...
