John H. Hays pled guilty to charges of disturbing the peace and criminal mischief in the county court for Cedar County. He later appealed his convictions to the district court and then to the Nebraska Court of Appeals, both of which affirmed. We granted Hays petition for further review to determine whether a trial court must obtain an affirmative, express waiver of a criminal defendant's right to confront witnesses, right to jury trial, and privilege...
