The defendant, Leslie O. McManus, pled guilty to manslaughter after the bill of indictment was amended from second degree murder. He was sentenced on March 15, 1996, to 25 years at hard labor. Because of clear and convincing evidence that a firearm was used in the commission of the offense, the trial court ordered that five years of the sentence be without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence.
