ANDERSON, Justice.

Appellant, Miguel Medina, appeals the trial court's ruling granting summary judgment in favor of appellee, Western Waste Industries (Western). He argues that the court abused its discretion and committed gross error by granting appellee's motion for summary judgment in the absence of appellant's counsel.
