As a result of his participation in a robbery, defendant was charged in a 12-count indictment with various crimes. Prior to the commencement of a suppression hearing on April 18, 1994, defendant accepted the prosecution's plea offer of 4 to 12 years in prison and pleaded guilty to the crime of robbery in the first degree in full satisfaction of the indictment.
