I. INTRODUCTION

On November 29, 1995, two nurses employed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at St. Joseph's Hospital filed this action on behalf of themselves and all others similarly situated under the Fair Labor and Standards Act of 1938 (FLSA), § 13(a)(1), as amended, 29 U.S.C.A. § 213(a)(1).
