In 1973, the defendant, Hubert Bonds, was found guilty of murder in the second degree, and sentenced to life in prison. A claim of appeal was entered but in May, 1975, an order of dismissal was docketed. In 1995, a single justice of this court reinstated the defendant's appellate rights and granted the defendant leave to file a motion for a new trial in the Superior Court.
