Appellee Larry M. Benzel was standing on an 8-foot aluminum stepladder stripping paint from a window frame when a step on the ladder failed and he lost his balance and fell, sustaining a broken leg. Benzel filed a product liability lawsuit against the ladder's manufacturer, appellant Keller Industries, Inc. (Keller). A jury, finding that the Keller ladder at issue was defective and the cause of Benzel's injury, awarded him $160,000 in damages, and...
