This action arises out of an automobile accident which occurred on July 24, 1994 at approximately 1:40 A.M. in the Town of Harrietstown, Franklin County. On that date, Janelle LaLonde, then 17 years old, was seriously injured while riding as a passenger in an automobile driven by 19-year-old defendant Adam Hurteau.
