In March, 1991, Stevie L. Patton was convicted by a jury of two counts of first-degree murder while armed. See D.C.Code §§ 22-2401, -3202 (1996). On November 22, 1993, this court reversed his convictions, holding that the trial judge had erred by admitting into evidence police testimony regarding certain hearsay statements which Patton's mother had made to police officers.
