On August 9, 1995, María Mulinelli-Navas ("Mulinelli") was charged with conspiracy to commit bank fraud, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371, making false statements to a federally insured financial institution, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1014, and bank fraud, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1344. On December 21, 1995, a jury returned a guilty verdict on all counts and she was subsequently sentenced to 27 months for each count...
