On October 18, 1982, defendant sold what was alleged to be four grams of psilocybin mushrooms, packaged in four separate baggies, to an undercover police officer at a price of $7 per gram. This substance was later analyzed and found to contain 32.24 milligrams of psilocybin, a hallucinogen. Defendant was subsequently indicted and convicted after a jury trial of criminal sale of a controlled substance...
