The defendant, Jonathan Haynes, was indicted on three counts of murder (720 ILCS 5/9-1(a)(1), (a)(2), (a)(3) (West 1992)) and one count of burglary (720 ILCS 5/19-1 (West 1992)) arising out of the August 6, 1993, shooting death of Dr. Martin Sullivan in Wilmette, Illinois.
