In this case, we must once again decide under what circumstances a federal district court's order remanding a removed case to the state court is reviewable by means of a writ of mandamus. The casual reader of 28 U.S.C. § 1447(d), which provides that "[a]n order remanding a case to the State court from which it was removed is not reviewable on appeal or otherwise" (with one exception not pertinent here), might think that no such circumstances...
