In 1990, defendant was convicted following a jury trial of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree. Defendant was sentenced as a second felony offender to concurrent prison terms of 12½ to 25 years on the possession of a controlled substance conviction and 3½ to 7 years on the weapons conviction.
