STATEMENT OF THE CASE

The defendant, Bernard Morgan, was found guilty of simple burglary, a violation of La.R.S. 14:62, on 12 October 1995. The State filed a multiple offender bill charging the defendant as a fourth felony offender based on a 1991 conviction for possession of stolen property, a 1987 conviction for twelve counts of forgery, and a 1982 conviction for theft.
