On February 8, 1991, Latrelle Hodge filed a complaint against John Johnson for money allegedly due under a promissory note executed by Johnson. Under the note, which was dated October 12, 1984, Johnson promised to pay Hodge "the sum of $46,250 ... with interest from 12 Oct. '84 at the rate of 12% per cent per annum until paid in full."
