Cedric Thomas was charged by bill of information with possession with intent to distribute cocaine on February 13, 1993, in a drug free zone, a violation of La.R.S. 40:981.3. He pled guilty to the responsive offense of attempted possession with intent to distribute cocaine in a drug free zone, and the court sentenced him to serve a term of nine years imprisonment at hard labor, with "at least" seven and one-half years to be served...
