In a jury trial beginning in September 1993, William Camuti was tried on 13 counts of mail fraud in connection with a scheme to defraud investors by obtaining their funds through false representations. 18 U.S.C. §§ 1341, 2. On October 18, 1993, the jury acquitted Camuti on two counts and convicted him on the remaining 11 counts. Camuti was sentenced on February 28, 1994 to 116 months' imprisonment and ordered to pay $2,528,000 in restitution...
