The plaintiffs in this lawsuit are former tenure-track assistant professors at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. They brought this action under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 alleging that the Board of Regents and certain University officials (collectively the "University") violated plaintiffs' due process and equal protection rights by denying tenure and refusing to renew their employment contracts.
