William Hanson filed a complaint under the Federal Employers' Liability Act (FELA) (45 U.S.C. § 51 et seq. (1988)), alleging that Consolidated Rail Corporation (Conrail) negligently caused injuries to his hand and arm. The jury returned a verdict for Hanson in the amount of $507,500.
