STATEMENT OF THE CASE

The defendant, James Ballom, was charged by bill of information on August 19, 1995, with theft of property valued between $100 and $500, a violation of La.R.S. 14:67. Mr. Ballom pled not guilty on September 26, 1995. The trial court found the defendant guilty and on December 14, 1995, sentenced him to serve one year at hard labor.
