On March 1, 1994, the district court for Douglas County entered a decree which dissolved Ricky D. and Lori S. Anderson's marriage and awarded custody of their two children to Lori. On July 27, Ricky filed an application to modify the divorce decree. The requested modification would prohibit both Lori and Ricky from having members of the opposite sex spend the night with them when the children were present.
