In February 1993, Duane Brown informed his insurance company, Danish Mutual Insurance Association (Danish), he had suffered theft of antique articles worth $13,820 from his home. The stolen articles had been stored in the basement of his farmhouse.

The Danish representative took tape recorded statements from Brown. Upon request, the company also obtained proof of loss and inventory forms...
