The defendant appeals following a jury trial, from the judgment of conviction, of two counts of attempted assault in the first degree in violation of General Statutes §§ 53a-49 (a) (2) and 53a-59 (a) (1). The trial court sentenced the defendant to an effective term of imprisonment of twenty-four years, suspended after twenty years, followed by a five year probationary period.
