On 3 April 1995, a Guilford County grand jury indicted defendant Vincent Artis on one count of trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine). Defendant later filed a pretrial motion to suppress physical evidence seized from his person. Following a voir dire hearing on 24 May 1995, the trial court denied defendant's motion. A jury subsequently found defendant guilty as charged, and the trial court sentenced defendant to a minimum of thirty...
