Ruben Gloria ("Gloria") filed suit against Valley Grain Products, Inc. ("Valley Grain"), alleging discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, 42 U.S.C. § 2000e. A jury found for Gloria and awarded backpay in the amount of $33,000; however, the district court granted Valley Grain's motion for judgment as a matter of law.
