A jury convicted Angel Mayora Medrano of first degree murder, kidnapping, sexual assault, and burglary. The trial court sentenced him to death on the murder conviction, and to terms of imprisonment for his other crimes. On direct appeal, we affirmed all but the death sentence, which was vacated and remanded for reconsideration. State v. Medrano, 173 Ariz. 393, 844 P.2d 560
