An Essex County grand jury on July 31, 1991, indicted Thomas Maimoni for the murder on July 12, 1991, of Martha Brailsford. A judge, after hearings in July and August, 1992, on October 16, 1992, denied the defendant's motion to suppress his statements. A number of other motions were heard by the trial judge ahead of trial and denied.
