The plaintiff, David Bourquin, as administrator of the estate of his wife, Gayle Bourquin, brought this action on June 2, 1988, to recover damages for her wrongful death on March 4, 1987, as a result of an operation performed on April 23, 1985, by the defendant Stephen Lange, a neurosurgeon, at the St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center (St. Francis Hospital).
